Revised Thesis

With some help from the class I've revised my thesis to ask: " How does designing to disassemble reduce waste through the process of re-using materials in their initial state repeatedly?"

  1. I think you have a great idea. If you have ever been on the site of a building which is being demolished than you know how much material is wasted. Even with attempts to salvage materials little is actually saved. A building constructed with nuts and bolts like in your picture would make it much easier to dissasemble and would drasticly decrease wasted materials, given that the demolition crew does their job right of course.

  2. yea its very good topic lots of materials are wasted but the big thing is goin to be if it is cost effective for the people taking the building apart to spend the man hours disassembling it compared to demoing it and just buying new materials. http://vancouver.ca/bps/1kingsway/faqs.htm i found this building in vancouver that they are disasembling to try to save as much materials as possible you may be able to contact them and get some info about it
